While he was in Australia in January, Fr General Adolfo Nicolás SJ responded to questions on vital areas for the Society in the country, including refugees, communications and social justice. Father General Adolfo Nicolás SJ speaks to The Way about Interreligious Dialogue: The Experience of some Pioneer Jesuits in Asia. Before becoming Superior General of the Jesuits in 2008, Adolfo Nicolás worked for many years in Asia. Here he draws on that experience to argue for the contemporary emergence of a new paradigm for the work of spreading the gospel, that of ‘evangelisation-through-dialogue’. He finds seeds of this in the work of the first Jesuits in that continent, seeds that at the time failed to flourish in an unprepared world.
On October 5, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI launched an appeal to the international community to help people suffering famine in the Horn of Africa.  During his general audience that morning, the Holy Father said, "I renew my heartfelt appeal to the international community to continue its commitment to these people. At the same time I invite everyone to offer prayers and concrete support to so many sorely tried brothers and sisters, particularly to the children of the region who are dying every day because of the lack of water and food".
Jesuit Mission and JRS Australia have pledged their support to an urgent appeal by the Jesuit Province of East Africa and JRS East Africa.  Funds are desperately needed to help victims of a severe famine that has been triggered by the worst drought in half a century in the Horn of Africa.

Magis is a pastoral experience organized by the Society of Jesus and other religious organisations for the days leading up to World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations, which this year were from 16 to 21 August in Madrid, Spain.
The annual camp of a new Catholic youth movement run by Jesuits in Bangladesh is providing a fresh approach to youth formation that many participants say is both fascinating and useful.Around 70 students from across the country attended the MAGIS (Marching and Growing in Solidarity) Bangla camp held at St. Leo Church in Baromari in Mymensingh diocese from November 8 to 12.

The first set of articles include pieces on Dr Who, the New Translation of the Roman Missal, Tim Tebow, yoga, Paula Deen, and health care reform.
The Loyola University Chicago School of Nursing has partnered with Yersin University School of Nursing in Dalat and the Lam Dong Province Nursing Association in a unique Masters of Science in Nursing programme.  Six Vietnamese teachers of nursing are enrolled in the two and a half year programme, which begins in June 2011.
